For a while now I was lying to myself. my neighborhood wasn't that bad. well, it isn't...it just looks bad. every single friend that has come to visit me gets really nervous and always asks if they have locked their doors and walk timidly behind me as i pull out my keys. ironically the first key i use has a tropical design on it...essentially, leading me to 'paradise'.

This is a little bit of info on my neighborhood...

East Garfield Park is a community area located on the west side of Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is part of the Chicago West Side area. After experiencing years of neglect and disinvestment, East Garfield is seeing revitalization. Located directly in the path of gentrification heading westward from the loop, East Garfield Park is being referred by many as the next "up and coming" neighborhood. Its central location, proximity to downtown, vintage housing stock, and access to mass transit, have made this neighborhood attractive to many buyers. Rehabs of vintage buildings and construction of high end luxury condos are seen throughout the area.

West Garfield Park is a community area located on the west side of Chicago, Illinois. The area has also undergone some gentrification in its northern boundaries but not to the same degree as East Garfield Park. It remains, however, a dangerous neighborhood, as violent crime such as assault and battery is not uncommon, especially after dark
